Student COVID-19 Responsibility

Your Responsibility with COVID-19

As the world continues to adapt and change to the ever-evolving aspects of COVID-19, we want to ensure that Saint Peter’s University is doing its part as well. It is our goal to provide a safe environment for all members of our campus community. In order to provide on-campus instruction, experiences and services for as many students as possible, we will need to not only adhere to federal, state, and local regulations but also change the way we interact with each other and be mindful of the health and safety of others.

With this in mind, we want to ensure you as the student understands your responsibility with helping slow the transmission of COVID-19 and what potential consequences are for choosing to not do your part.

Saint Peter’s University Cura Personalis Contract

Before the start of the academic year, each student will receive an email that will provide them with a link to complete the digital Saint Peter’s University Cura Personalis Contract. This is an agreement that each student is expected to electronically sign that will provide a comprehensive set of expectations to adhere to throughout the academic year. If you have any questions about this, please email the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@saintpeters.edu

Expectations for COVID-19 Violations

Every Saint Peter’s University community member is empowered to remind and request adherence to federal, state, local, and Saint Peter’s University guidelines. Students play a critical role in protecting their own safety and security, and the safety and security of their peers and all other members of the Saint Peter’s University community, including faculty, staff and community members in areas off-campus where students reside.

In the event that an individual potentially chose to violate the COVID-19 expectations, an incident report (IR) would be submitted to the Dean of Students. Once the IR is received, the Dean of Students would review the information and determine if further investigation or conduct charges are appropriate. All cases related to COVID-19 will be adjudicated as expeditiously as possible, typically within 5 business days or less. In most COVID-19 related cases, they will fall under the failure to comply policy. All cases that are likely to result in a warning or probation will be adjudicated through the informal resolution process. Cases that may result in a suspension or expulsion will be referred to an official conduct hearing. Students have the right to appeal in all cases.

Potential Sanctions for COVID-19 Violations

While all cases will be heard on an individual case-by-case basis, Saint Peter’s University is committed to a consistent approach to sanction students who are found responsible for intentionally choosing to put others in the community at risk.
